  • Leave the first meter of the flyline outside the stripping basket so you can cast freely without pulling the flyline placed first in the basket. In this way a lot of line problems are avoided. In the video link the principle is demonstrated  http://www.salmonfly.dk/video/linekurv.wmv
  • When flycasting without wind or against the wind parts of or the whole shooting line might be placed outside the basket. This will increase the resistance in the lower line and improve the fly presentation under these circumstances.

  

  • Some prefer to place the stripping basket displaced to the side of the line hand.
